Amflow PL Carbon Pro Test: The game-changer with 120 Nm and 1,000 watts!
Amflow: This newcomer from Asia has turned the entire e-mountain bike world upside down and was the star of this year's EUROBIKE. Besides impressive technical specifications and a phenomenal drive system, the DJI Amflow PL Carbon Pro also impresses upon closer inspection – thanks to its powerful FOX Factory suspension and outstanding trail performance.
How the bike rides and why even established players like Bosch, Brose or Shimano should definitely have the new competitor from China on their radar: We'll tell you all about it in our DJI Amflow Carbon PL Pro test.

DJI Amflow PL Carbon Pro first impression
Guaranteed to turn heads: The new Amflow PL Carbon Pro arrives with a top-of-the-line, full-carbon frame straight out of the box. The black paint finish and the gold "AMFLOW" lettering on the downtube instantly give the bike a sophisticated, premium look. Everything fits together perfectly, and the workmanship is superb. Another highlight: the OLED touchscreen display integrated into the top tube. While other manufacturers often only use a few LEDs, the Amflow PL Carbon Pro comes equipped with a fantastic 2" touchscreen.

Amflow PL Carbon Pro with a total weight of under 20 kg!
Slim and faster: Thanks to its ultralight motor, Amflow has managed to reduce the overall weight (size M) to under 20 kg. That's phenomenal for a full-power e-mountain bike. Between you and me: It offers you the lightness of a light e-MTB with all the advantages of a full-power e-MTB. In our opinion, this makes the bike practically perfect for long, demanding tours and nimble trails.

The Amflow frame: Attention to detail and cinematic brilliance
Well done! Amflow impresses with top-notch workmanship. We were very impressed by the organic design. Flowing lines, cable ports on the head tube, and a very clean look: Amflow has created a distinctive aesthetic with the PL Carbon Pro.
During our test rides, we constantly attracted curious glances and received many questions about the bike. A nice feature: the Amflow can be ridden with 29" wheels or as a mullet setup. Even better: with a frame weight of just 2.27 kg (size M), the Amflow definitely plays in the lightweight league.

Tesla feeling in a mountain bike: Integrated display in the top tube with touch function!
Just a few years ago, this would have been almost science fiction: Amflow integrates a 2-inch full-color OLED touchscreen directly into the top tube. It serves as a "command center," providing the rider with all essential riding data and even displaying the remaining range calculated in real time. Best of all: The touchscreen is incredibly easy to use, even with MTB gloves.
In our tests, we quickly came to appreciate having all sorts of information and data immediately and literally at our fingertips. The response time is excellent, and the operation should seem immediately intuitive to smartphone users.

DJI Avinox app for all Amflow PL models
Typical DJI: The DJI Avinox app, also available, works even better with the motor system than Bud Spencer and Terence Hill. The application, which is available for iOS and Android, runs absolutely smoothly and offers a tremendous amount of added value. Generally speaking, the look, driving modes, and other aspects of the display can be personalized in no time at all (okay, last pun).

The geometry of the Amflow PL Carbon Pro
Amflow finds the sweet spot and opts for a moderate 64.5° head angle. Unlike, for example, Santa Cruz bikes, the chainstays are a consistent 445 mm across all sizes. Interestingly, the Amflow is available in four frame sizes from M to XXL (unfortunately, this completely excludes smaller riders). The effective seat angle is 77°, making it definitely suitable for touring.

The DJI Avinox motor is a top performer.
Arnold Schwarzenegger as an electric motor: The new motor acts as the heart of the new Amflow PL. Up to 120 Nm of torque, a maximum power of 1,000 watts (both in boost mode), and new 600 Wh and 800 Wh batteries with state-of-the-art cell chemistry: The data sheet of the new Amflow alone could already cause typical Pavlovian salivation – and we haven't even talked about the riding experience yet.

The Avinox motor's driving system
Interestingly, the motor system can be managed with two wireless, high-quality handlebar remotes. The left remote allows for quick and easy switching between riding modes. The right remote lets riders adjust and cycle through the information displayed on the top tube.
The Avinox drive system offers a total of five different riding modes (Eco, Trail, Turbo, Auto, and Boost modes) to ensure you're prepared for all trails and climbs. You can easily adjust them using the remote control on the handlebars.

The car mode: How AI can help with biking
The auto mode was particularly exciting for us. This type of autopilot adjusts the assistance in real time to the trail conditions and the rider's position. Ideally, this allows all types of terrain and uphill sections to be tackled without having to change modes. In our test, the function performed surprisingly well. On some uphill sections, however, it was a bit too eager. For many situations, though, it adjusted the assistance appropriately.
-
Practical pushing aid thanks to walk mode
With Walk Mode, you can easily push the Amflow up even very steep inclines. Once activated, it essentially walks alongside you, propelling you forward on its own. A really cool feature: Auto Hold prevents rolling backward on inclines, while Hill Start Assist provides extra torque when starting from a standstill. Ideal if you want to quickly repeat your favorite section using shortcuts and by taking the most direct route, without having to tackle the entire "regular" uphill climb.
-
Engine verdict: Extremely powerful – superbly controllable and with a very natural driving feel.
It's like with sports cars: lots of horsepower only helps if you can put it down well. And the Amflow delivers its power perfectly to the trail. However the Chinese engineers managed it, the DJI Avinox motor reacts almost intuitively, anticipating the road ahead. In practice, this means: always enough power without the motor unnecessarily over-delivering. During testing, we were particularly impressed by the smooth power delivery uphill. No matter how steep the climb, the bike always had ample reserves.

Amflow PL Carbon Pro with 600 Wh and 800 Wh battery
With the Amflow PL Carbon Pro, you have a choice: you can ride the e-mountain bike with either a 600 Wh or an 800 Wh battery. The advantage of the smaller battery is an even lower overall weight. The advantage of the larger battery is more power for longer rides. Amflow also offers a high-performance charger that can charge the larger battery in approximately 3 hours. However, in our test, the bike was generally very efficient even with the smaller battery. The power management is state-of-the-art.

The test drive: The Amflow PL on the trail
The Amflow PL PRO is a true trail bike with enduro capabilities. The suspension, with 160 mm of travel up front and 150 mm in the rear, delivers plenty of speed on the trail thanks to its firmer setup, practically begging you to play around. The rider sits/stands nicely centered on the bike, giving them a lot of confidence and allowing them to really let it rip even on flat terrain.
When the terrain gets much rougher, the Amflow demands a more controlled ride and requires a clean line. It wasn't designed for mindlessly pounding through nasty enduro trails. The Amflow PL Carbon Pro much prefers flowing, surfing trails. Don't worry: you can still be damn fast downhill on this bike.
-
Excellent handling for trail bikers and "light enduro" riders
Is the Amflow now the perfect all-rounder? Almost. Berms, bumps, or small and large ramps: you can easily build momentum everywhere. When things get rougher, the FOX Factory suspension with the FOX 36 up front and the FOX FLOAT X shock provides an extra dose of reserves. The Amflow PL even handles rocky sections very well – although it doesn't quite reach the speed of modern enduro bikes – which it isn't.
Overall, the handling is very intuitive. Especially on challenging trails, this – combined with the very low overall weight for an e-mountain bike – provides a significant boost in safety and riding enjoyment. The responsiveness of the rear suspension impressed us immediately, even on very fast sections. The high front end provides a great deal of stability on descents and practically begs for fast laps. For those seeking even more playfulness, the bike can also be ridden as a mullet with a 29" wheel in the front and a 27.5" wheel in the rear.
-
Perfectly suited to trails and flow
The DJI Amflow PL Carbon PRO's forte is definitely trails. Here, the bike truly shines, boasting impressive agility and precise handling. Whether tight corners or technical sections, the e-mountain bike impressed us during our test rides with its incredibly light and fun feel. For those who don't have serious bike park ambitions (in which case we recommend bikes like the Santa Cruz Bullitt ), the Amflow is a brilliant all-around bike.

Affordable entry-level model: The Amflow PL Carbon
Those who want to experience the power of the new DJI Avinox drive, but can do without the premium chassis or the electronic shifting, should be very happy with the “normal” Amflow Carbon model .
This bike comes equipped with a still very good FOX 36 Performance suspension fork and the FOX FLOAT Performance air shock. It also features a mechanical SRAM GX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain and MAGURA MT5 four-piston brakes.
